What I also learned is that when designers felt safe investing because of a guarantee, they often also felt safe not fully showing up for the work — and that’s not how transformation happens.

No. The interior design industry is not federally regulated, and in most provinces or states you don’t need certification or licensure to start working with clients. You can begin right now with the skills and creativity you already have. (YES… you already have something of value to offer today. You just have to believe that.)

That said, some provinces & states do have regulations: a few require licensure for certain scopes of work or contexts, while others only regulate the title “Interior Designer.”

Either way, regulation does not prevent you from starting. Many successful designers launch their businesses with services like design consultations, furnishings projects, decorating, or even full-service residential design where a licensed contractor or architect handles any permitting.

However, it’s important to note: we do NOT teach you how to “be a designer.” We teach you how to get clients, sell your services, and make money once you decide to launch your design business.
